A Moment for Tackiness III

Magical!

There is nothing inherently tacky about crystals, its just that they are often used in tacky ways, and images of them can evoke feelings similar to those induced by Lisa Frank.

Diamonds in the rough.

In someways, there is something more appealing about the uncut stones. They are probably more satisfying to play with and their natural geometry in contrast with their imperfections is stunning; reminds me of some of my favorite people. I love a heavy handed, gem-based, metaphor, don't you?

Rainy Day

Another rainy day here in New York. As much as I absolutely loathe umbrella traffic, I do find umbrellas rather pretty to look at.

I would much rather be using an umbrella for this sort of a purpose...

Or sipping on a drink with one of these in it.

After a storm, the streets are always littered with everybodys abandonned brollies. New York especially seems to the capital of low quality, almost single use umbrellas.

I had a mobile exactly like this one when I was a little tot, now I miss it! I may have to recreate it with paper mache!

I hope the sun returns to these parts, sooner rather than later!

Eros

How sweet and pretty these images are, especially when compared to the tripe which we have such an overwhleming abundance of these days.

Wedding night?

So feminine and elegant.

Just looking for my cellphone...

A Moment for Tackiness II

Maybe I've been feeling a tad stressed out lately, or perhaps just worn out, or maybe its just listening to at 45 minute playlist of music I don't love over and over all day, but right now, nothing sounds better than floating around in a pool.

Or maybe even making-out in a pool by night?

This is a little bit extremely scary, it's a hotel in Singapore where i plan to never stay!

I like the idea of being able to chuck myself out of the bedroom, or living room directly into the pool, in a dramatic fashion of course; However, I DO NOT like the idea of sheets constantly stinking of chlorine, but its a trade-off I suppose.

This pool somehow manages to make the sky look tacky, which is a real feat. I still love this though!

When it comes down to it, yes, pools are kind of tacky, but guess what? They are also kind of the best thing ever. I think a line has to be drawn at pools that are designed to look "natural". They never do, so whats the point? Keep them geometric, and self-aware. Nothing worse than a pool that's totally oblivious and honestly thinks it blends into a natural setting! Oh wait, above-ground pools are even worse!

I nearly chose not to include this post as another episode (?) of "A Moment For Tackiness".   I felt really torn, about the level of tackiness. Is it really at the same level as the tokyo nail expo? Not sure...

Well Said Sundays, A Quote to Note II

Groucho Marx
There are so many wonderful quote of his, these are just a few that I can remember.

"I've had a perfectly wonderful evening. But this wasn't it."- Groucho Marx

"Well, I thought my razor was dull until I heard his speech." - Groucho Marx

"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing. If you can fake that, you've got it made." -Groucho Marx

"Anyone who says he can see through women is missing a lot." - Groucho Marx

"I don't care to belong to a club that accepts people like me as members." - Groucho Marx

Mushroom Magic

I love anything that is prettier the more poisonous it is.

The patterns, colors and geometry are so striking, and so beautiful.

Beyond their obvious physical beauty, there is something rather intriguing, and beautiful about the fact that mushrooms are built from decay. They spring up, these wonderful, colorful, often delicate creations, out of damp, smelly death and rot, sometimes only to be killers themselves.
